Tóm tắt Sách truyện dành cho trẻ em tích hợp hệ thống kí hiệu ngôn ngữ và hình ảnh, và dành nhiều không gian nhất cho tranh ảnh, vì vậy sẽ hợp lí khi coi chúng quan trọng như ngôn từ. Để phân tích và diễn giải mối quan hệ giữa ngôn ngữ và hình ảnh bài báo này đề xuất sử dụng thuyết ngôn ngữ đánh giá của Martin và White (2013) bao gồm ba siêu chức năng (biểu hiện, tương tác và bố cục) trong phân tích ngôn từ và khung ngữ pháp hình ảnh của Kress và van Leeuwen trong Reading Images (2006) để phân tích hình ảnh. Children picture books which incorporate a system of words and images devotes the most space to pictures; it, therefore, makes sense to consider images as important as words. To analyse and interpret the interface between text and image, this article proposes to use the language of evaluation of Martin and White (2013) which includes three meta functions (ideational metafunction, interpersonal metafunction and textual metafunction) to to analyse words further developed by Kress and van Leeuwen in Reading Images (2006) with the grammar of visual design framework to analyse pictures portrayed in picture books for children.
